Task States

Tasks in CoffeeBreakAI move through a set of well-defined states. This page describes the most important ones conceptually.

• Pending – The task has been created but not yet routed for execution.
• Queued – The task is waiting for an agent or resource to become available.
• Running – An agent is actively working on the task.
• Awaiting Review – The task has an agent result and is waiting for human review.
• Paused – The task is temporarily paused, usually for review or dependency reasons.
• Retrying – The task encountered a recoverable error and is scheduled for another attempt.
• Blocked – The task cannot run until one or more dependencies are completed.
• Completed – The task finished successfully and any integrations have been updated.
• Failed – The task cannot proceed due to a non-recoverable error or exceeded retry limit.
• Cancelled – The task was intentionally stopped by a user or system rule.

The combination of Task State, Trigger Source, and Retry metadata provides a complete picture of where each unit of work stands in the system.
